[POLIS-ALICE webinar series] Mixed use of Urban Space for City Logistics

Friday, October 9th, 2026

As urban populations grow and urban flows expand, cities are facing increasing pressure to balance the demands of mobility, logistics, and public space. Traditional zoning and infrastructure models (often designed for static, single-purpose use) may fail to accommodate the evolving needs of both urban logistics and dynamic public life. This mismatch can lead to congestion, inefficiencies, and conflicts over space use, particularly in dense urban areas where competition for limited space is intense.
EU-Funded projects are a key tool in addressing these challenges. While innovative solutions are piloted over the course of a project, a logical continuity between the end of a project and its associated results with newly established projects is rarely made. New projects often pilot solutions using similar tools and technologies to achieve the same means (microhubs, smart loading zones, multifunctional usage of infrastructure) without necessarily factoring lessons learned by legacy projects. This webinar will present results from DISCO’s Policy Package deliverable (D7.5) with NEXTLOGIC’s Urban Logistics Challenges (D1.1) to bridge the gap in exchange between concluding and newly-launched projects.

Through applying lessons learned from DISCO’s use cases to relevant NEXTLOGIC pilots, this webinar seeks to showcase how new projects can draw from previous projects’ results to ensure success and continuity.
