CLEVER Microlearning Modules now available

Tuesday, February 10th, 2026

Understanding transport emissions and greenhouse gas (GHG) calculations does not need to be complex. As part of the CLEVER project, a new microlearning course series has been launched to support professionals in better understanding and applying key concepts related to GHG emission factors and transport emissions.

Hosted on the Smart Freight Centre Academy, the CLEVER microlearning series offers short, accessible learning modules designed for professionals working in transport, logistics, sustainability, and policy.

First courses now available

The first three CLEVER microlearning courses are now live and available free of charge:

  • Introduction to GHG Emission Factors, explaining what emission factors are and why they are essential for accurate emissions calculation and reporting
  • The CLEVER Project and Its Impact, presenting the project’s role in the standardisation of emission factors
  • Understanding Transport Emissions, providing an overview of direct and indirect emissions across freight, logistics, and passenger transport

Each course is designed as a 15-minute microlearning module, suitable for beginners and accessible on demand.

What will you learn?

The available modules introduce the fundamentals of transport emissions, including how emission factors are calculated and applied, where emissions occur across different transport modes, and how different stakeholders contribute to measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Through short videos and interactive elements, the courses aim to translate complex topics into practical knowledge that can be used in everyday professional contexts.

A growing learning series

While the CLEVER microlearning programme will ultimately include seven courses, additional modules will be released progressively over the course of the project.

Who is it for?

The CLEVER microlearning courses are suitable for logistics and transport professionals, sustainability practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and anyone interested in the decarbonisation of transport.

All courses are free to access via the Smart Freight Centre Academy: https://academy.smartfreightcentre.org/course/introd-to-ghg-emission-factors
