Welcoming ELES: powering the future of electrified freight transport
Tuesday, June 10th, 2025
We are pleased to welcome ELES, the Slovenian national energy combined transmission and distribution system operator, as a new member of the ALICE platform.
In 2023, Slovenian Act on Infrastructure for Alternative Fuels in Transport was adopted to speed up the development of high-capacity charging parks – an essential step toward enabling reliable, scalable charging infrastructure for the long-term needs of electric mobility. With a strong track record in bridging the transport and energy sectors, ELES is playing a central role in Slovenia’s efforts to accelerate the electrification of transport.
Enabling energy-transport synergies
ELES recognises that a successful transition to electric freight transport depends on more than just vehicles. It requires:
Reliable and high-capacity charging networks
User-friendly infrastructure accessible to carriers and operators
Cost-effective energy solutions that align with transport operations
As part of ALICE, ELES will actively engage with logistics stakeholders to better understand operational requirements, identify optimisation opportunities, and support the planning and deployment of infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of the sector.
A shared vision for integration and innovation
Through its participation in ALICE, ELES aims to:
Gain insights into the logistics and freight transport ecosystem
Collaborate on projects that link energy systems and transport decarbonisation
Contribute to the development of comprehensive, cross-sector strategies for zero-emission freight
We look forward to working with ELES to drive innovation at the interface of transport and energy, supporting the creation of a reliable, accessible, and sustainable energy supply for freight transport across Europe.
