[CCAM LTF Validation Workshop] Total Cost of Ownership of Autonomous Electric Vehicles

Wednesday, January 21st, 2026

On 13th of February 2026, from 13:00 to 14:00 CET, ALICE, in cooperation with the Institute of Transport Economics (TØI), will host an online validation workshop to support the MODI project’s business-model work on the total cost of ownership (TCO) of Autonomous Electric Vehicles (AEVs). TØI is leading the business-model analysis in MODI and is collecting input from stakeholders beyond the MODI consortium.

The objective is to validate key TCO assumptions and discuss how automation may change cost structures for electric freight vehicles across three duty cycles: drayage, middle-mile and long-haul.

The workshop is the second step of a two-step activity. It follows an input collection phase (online questionnaire + TCO Excel tool), and will present consolidated, anonymised results. TØI will present the resulting ranges (ICE baseline vs EV and estimated EV→AEV impacts) for each duty cycle and will lead a structured discussion to verify the plausibility of the assumptions with the wider CCAM Logistics Task Force (LTF) community. The session will also include a short interactive check-in (e.g., Slido) to capture participant feedback on the presented ranges.

Who should attend
Organisations with insight into at least one relevant freight operation (drayage, middle-mile or long-haul), such as fleet operators, logistics service providers, shippers with own fleets, terminals/hubs, and those responsible for operations, finance/controlling, procurement, or sustainability.

PRELIMINARY AGENDA

  • Welcome and purpose of the session. Angjelo Andoni (ALICE)
  • Consolidated results + validation by duty cycle. (TØI)
    • Duty cycle 1: Drayage (ICE vs EV baseline + EV→AEV estimate; validation questions)
    • Duty cycle 2: Middle-mile (ICE vs EV baseline + EV→AEV estimate; validation questions)
    • Duty cycle 3: Long-haul (ICE vs EV baseline + EV→AEV estimate; validation questions)
  • Validation Slido of the results. (TØI)
  • Open discussion: key assumptions for the EV→AEV transition (labour, utilisation/availability, charging downtime, maintenance, infrastructure). (TØI)
  • Closure. Angjelo Andoni (ALICE)

REGISTRATION

This event is open to both members and non-members.

CCAM Logistics Task Force members do not need to register, as they will receive an invitation containing the connection details.

The recorded session videos and presentations will be sent to the CCAM LTF community.
