[POLIS-ALICE webinar series 2026] Mixed use of Urban Space for City Logistics

Friday, March 6th, 2026

As urban populations grow and urban flows expand, cities are facing increasing pressure to balance the demands of mobility, logistics, and public space. Traditional zoning and infrastructure models may fail to accommodate the evolving needs of both urban logistics and dynamic public life, leading to congestion, inefficiencies, and conflicts over space use. To address these challenges, cities must adopt innovative approaches that allow logistics activities to coexist seamlessly with public functions, ensuring that urban spaces remain functional, liveable and welcoming.

This webinar explores strategies for optimising urban areas by integrating logistics functions into the urban fabric while maintaining accessible and engaging public spaces. Key topics include multi-functional infrastructure, time-based space sharing, moveable parcel lockers, and micro-hubs.

The webinar also offers an opportunity for city representatives, policymakers, and logistics operators to gain insights into the ongoing work of the EU-funded projects GRETA and DISCO.
