This webinar brings together ALICE and the Japan Physical Internet Center (JPIC) to explore how different Physical Internet (PI) maturity and readiness approaches are shaping global PI deployment. Building on ALICE’s role as a global connector and the EU‑funded IKIGAI project, the session will present how innovation‑level readiness, organisational maturity and country‑level frameworks complement each other.
A particular focus will be placed on the Physical Internet Maturity Model (PIMM) developed by JPIC, which provides companies with a structured framework to assess and advance their PI implementation. The webinar will highlight how these approaches align, how they support real‑world adoption, and how ongoing international dialogue—leading toward IPIC 2026 in Bordeaux—is contributing to a coherent, global PI ecosystem.
The Japan Physical Internet Center (JPIC) is a national organisation established to advance the implementation of the Physical Internet in Japan through standardisation, research and multi‑stakeholder collaboration. JPIC works in close cooperation with several Japanese ministries, in particular the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), contributing to public initiatives related to logistics policy, digitalisation, transport systems and sustainability. Through this multi‑ministerial collaboration, JPIC acts as a national coordination platform, aligning industry, academia and government efforts to support the structured and long‑term deployment of Physical Internet principles in Japan.
