On 12 June 2025, ALICE and the European Shippers’ Council (ESC) co-organised the second AUTOSUP webinar, titled “How can we protect our critical (port) infrastructure to enable safe logistics and trade?” The event brought together European experts and stakeholders to examine the evolving threats to logistics infrastructure and to explore strategies for building safer, more resilient port operations.
The session was divided into two parts. The first, “Infrastructure in uncertain times,” featured speakers from the EU Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and the TRANSCEND project. They presented the latest data on cyber threats targeting the transport sector, which is now among the most affected industries in Europe. The speakers also discussed the implications of the EU’s NIS2 Directive and the growing need for coordinated cybersecurity measures across supply chains.
The second part, “The way ahead: safety, security, and resilience of hubs,” highlighted real-world approaches to port innovation. The Port of Antwerp-Bruges shared its experience implementing a comprehensive digital security system, including a network of automated drones and advanced surveillance technologies. The SARIL project contributed insights into resilience frameworks designed to help logistics infrastructure withstand and recover from both cyber and physical disruptions.
The webinar reinforced the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration, integrated risk management, and data-driven innovation in securing Europe’s logistics and transport systems.
