ALICE at Connecting Europe Days 2024

Thursday, April 4th, 2024

In the heart of Brussels, Connecting Europe Days 2024 was a major event, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders from across the continent. This year’s conference was a testament to Europe’s commitment to building a transport future that is not only sustainable and smart, but also resilient in the face of evolving challenges. ALICE participated in the event through its member organisations and the EU-funded projects in which ALICE is a partner.

Debates for a greener future

The conference debates provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the transformation of Europe’s transport infrastructure. In particular, Debate 7: “Revolutionising Infrastructure” proved to be a cornerstone session, attracting over 500 registered participants. Featuring ALICE members such as Anna Borsuk from UNILEVER, Giuseppe Dall’Asta from Interporto Bologna SpA, Philippe de Carné from GEODIS and Janeta Toma from the European Inland Waterway Platform, the debate focused on the need to promote sustainable, resilient and future-proof freight transport systems. This dialogue was fully in line with the ALICE vision, highlighting the crucial role of innovative solutions in achieving the EU’s ambitious goals for environmentally friendly freight transport.

In addition, Andrea Condotta of Gruber Logistics contributed his insights to Debate 5: “Boosting Rail Freight Traffic”, which focused on the expected impact of recent Commission proposals on rail infrastructure capacity. This discussion underlined the need for the transport sector to adapt and embrace new regulatory frameworks and highlighted the collective effort required to improve the efficiency and sustainability of rail freight.

Showcasing innovation and collaboration

The Connecting Europe Days also featured an exhibition where among other exibitors, the EU-funded projects in which ALICE participates, such as PIONEERS, DELPHI and Cristal were showcased. These projects received considerable attention and appreciation from the participants. The positive reception and interest from the audience underlined the relevance and potential impact of these initiatives in driving forward the EU’s transport and mobility agenda.

The presence of ALICE at Connecting Europe Days 2024 was not just about showcasing projects or participating in debates. It underlines our commitment to redefining the landscape of transport and logistics. Through our involvement, we aimed to highlight the importance of collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision in tackling the challenges facing Europe’s transport sector.

As we reflect on the outcomes and insights garnered from this event, ALICE remains committed to leading the charge towards a more sustainable, efficient, and smart mobility future. We extend our gratitude to all participants, partners, and organisers of the Connecting Europe Days 2024 for a truly memorable and impactful event.
