DIMECC joins ALICE to advance collaborative innovation in transport and logistics

Thursday, October 29th, 2026

ALICE is pleased to welcome DIMECC as a new member, strengthening the community’s expertise in autonomous transport, multimodal logistics, digitalisation and sustainable mobility.

Founded in 2008, DIMECC is a Finnish Nordic innovation company that brings together industry, research organisations and other stakeholders to accelerate innovation, strengthen competitiveness and develop sustainable solutions. Through six innovation clusters operating in Finland and Norway, DIMECC engages more than 300 companies in collaborative activities, connecting industrial expertise with research and new business opportunities.

DIMECC supports the development of innovation ecosystems where companies, technology providers, researchers and other stakeholders can work together on shared challenges. Its activities include facilitating cross-sector collaboration, developing research and innovation projects and supporting the transition from emerging technologies to practical applications.

Advancing autonomous and multimodal transport

Within transport and logistics, DIMECC’s activities are particularly represented by its VAMOS and MMILE innovation clusters.

VAMOS focuses on autonomous mobility, electrification, intelligent transport systems and fleet operations, bringing together stakeholders working on the development and deployment of smarter, safer and more sustainable transport solutions.

MMILE focuses on mobility, maritime innovation and multimodal logistics. The cluster connects companies, transport operators, research organisations and technology providers to develop integrated solutions across transport modes, particularly road, sea and air.

MMILE addresses challenges such as fragmented transport systems, the integration of autonomous technologies, remote operations and the transition towards low-emission mobility. Its activities also explore how transport and energy systems can be better coordinated, including the infrastructure required for vehicle and vessel electrification.

Beyond technological development, MMILE works to strengthen trust in innovative solutions, address regulatory and operational barriers and support the transition from individual pilots towards scalable and commercially relevant applications.

Connecting Nordic innovation with European collaboration

Through its innovation clusters, DIMECC facilitates cooperation between Finnish and Norwegian organisations and wider European research and innovation networks.

Its approach combines industry-led collaboration, research and development, project preparation and opportunities for demonstration and commercialisation. By connecting stakeholders from different sectors and transport modes, DIMECC helps develop integrated solutions that address operational needs while supporting sustainability, resilience and competitiveness.

By joining ALICE, DIMECC aims to contribute Nordic expertise in autonomous transport, digitalisation, resilient logistics networks and low-emission mobility to European logistics innovation activities.

Its participation will create opportunities to connect the VAMOS and MMILE ecosystems with ALICE members, explore collaborative European projects and exchange experience on the development and deployment of intelligent, interconnected and sustainable transport and logistics solutions.

Through this collaboration, DIMECC will contribute to strengthening links between industrial innovation, research and practical implementation across Europe’s logistics ecosystem.
