PRESS RELEASE New York/Brussels, 24 September 2026 – Speaking at Climate Week NYC 2026, ALICE called for stronger collaboration across supply chains to unlock further gains in logistics efficiency, resilience and emissions reduction, and invited companies to help shape the emerging Physical Internet Coalition.
François-Régis Le Tourneau, ALICE Senior Strategic Officer for PI Coalition & Realisation, highlighted that while companies have made significant progress optimising their own operations, further opportunities increasingly lie across the network: in better use of transport capacity, infrastructure and data, and in greater interoperability between organisations augmenting logistics performance.
“We have spent years optimising individual companies. The next opportunity is between companies. If we want more efficient, resilient and lower-emission logistics, we need to make the network work better, and no company can do that alone,” said François-Régis Le Tourneau.
For European logistics, this challenge is increasingly linked to competitiveness. Better utilisation of existing assets and infrastructure can support productivity and decarbonisation simultaneously, but requires companies to collaborate across organisational boundaries while maintaining clear business value.
The discussion in New York also highlighted a practical question from business leaders: how can companies collaborate across supply chains in ways that are operationally workable and commercially relevant?
This is the challenge ALICE is addressing through the EU-funded IKIGAI project, where it is leading the creation of the Physical Internet Coalition. The next step is to bring companies into the process to help identify operational barriers, define where collaboration can create value and shape the conditions for implementation at scale.
