BRIDGE joins ALICE Liaison Programme

Friday, April 3rd, 2026

The BRIDGE project (Boosting a Resilient and sustainable door-to-door Intermodal freight transport digital Data sharinG Ecosystem) has officially joined the ALICE Liaison Programme, strengthening collaboration between European research and innovation initiatives and the logistics community.

Funded under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and coordinated by UIRR, BRIDGE aims to accelerate the digital transformation of intermodal freight transport by improving data sharing, interoperability and operational efficiency across the logistics chain.

Strengthening collaboration for a digital and interoperable logistics ecosystem

Through its participation in the ALICE Liaison Programme, BRIDGE will actively contribute to the exchange of knowledge, results and best practices with the wider European logistics and supply chain innovation community.

The collaboration will also support alignment with ALICE’s strategic research and innovation roadmaps, with BRIDGE consolidating activities under ALICE Thematic Group 2 (TG2) and bringing a stronger rail freight perspective into the programme.

The project addresses key challenges linked to the implementation of the TAF TSI Regulation and the upcoming TSI Telematics, adopting a door-to-door perspective that reflects the complexity of modern intermodal transport systems.

Advancing data sharing and interoperability in intermodal transport

BRIDGE focuses on three core priorities:

  • enabling seamless data sharing integration across intermodal stakeholders
  • fostering harmonisation and standardisation of operational and digital processes
  • ensuring data interoperability between systems used by operators, terminals and logistics service providers

By improving data exchange across rail, road and maritime transport, the project aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of intermodal freight services. This will ultimately make these services more attractive to shippers and logistics service providers, supporting a modal shift towards more sustainable transport solutions.

From analysis to implementation

BRIDGE will deliver a comprehensive analysis of the current data-sharing landscape in intermodal freight transport, including a state-of-the-art review, process mapping and gap identification.

Building on this, the project will test implementable digital solutions by upgrading telematics applications used in real operations. It will also develop governance and business models, standardisation approaches and cost-benefit analyses, with a strong focus on SME inclusion and reducing barriers to adoption.

The project will culminate in implementation guidelines and a roadmap aligned with the TSI Telematics framework, supporting stakeholders in the transition towards a more connected and digitalised freight ecosystem.

Building on previous European initiatives

BRIDGE leverages the results of previous CEF-funded projects such as EDICT and Digital Train 1.0 and 2.0, further advancing standardisation and interoperability. In particular, it will support the integration of key TAF TSI messages into the intermodal digital ecosystem.

A strong and representative consortium

Launched in October 2025 for a duration of 36 months, BRIDGE brings together 20 partners representing the full spectrum of intermodal stakeholders, including terminals, railway undertakings, intermodal operators, port authorities, logistics service providers and IT providers.
