The ALICE Logistics Innovation Award 2025 honoured outstanding achievements in transforming research and innovation outcomes into practical solutions that advance the efficiency, sustainability and resilience of logistics.
Presented during the ALICE Logistics Innovation Summit 2025 (23-24 October, Brussels), the award celebrates organisations that have successfully implemented the results of publicly funded European, national or regional R&I projects, translating them into tangible market-ready services, technologies or policy framework.
This recognition underscores ALICE’s commitment to accelerating innovation deployment and bridging the gap between research and implementation – ensuring that public funded innovation leads to measurable impact across Europe’s logistics ecosystem.
Innovation in logistics plays a pivotal role in Europe’s transition to a decarbonised and digital economy. However, achieving real-world deployment remains one of the greatest challenges in research and innovation. Through this award, ALICE highlights the organisations that have successfully overcome these barriers, offering inspiration to the logistics community and valuable insights for policy makers and funders.
The 2025 winners were selected by an independent jury of experts representing diverse perspectives across logistics, innovation and research:
The ALICE Secretariat Team – Fernando Liesa, Dirk ’t Hooft, Yuliya Sahitava and Yanying Li – supported the process and organisation of the ceremony.
CityLogin – Urban Logistics Pioneer Award
CityLogin was recognised for its pioneering role in accelerating the adoption of zero-emission vehicles in urban logistics. By operating micro-hubs across Madrid, including an innovative pilot in the Plaza Mayor underground parking facility, the company has optimised last-mile delivery through the use of electric motorcycles and the effective reuse of underutilised urban spaces. The micro-hubs have been developed by the Lead Project that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 861598.
Transmetrics – AI in Logistics Award
Transmetrics received the AI in Logistics Award for its FleetMetrics Sales Navigator, an artificial intelligence solution that automates the evaluation of transport requests for full truckload carriers. The tool enables faster and more profitable decision-making, illustrating how data-driven technologies can enhance competitiveness and efficiency in freight operations. The tool has been developed by Transmetrics with funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC).
ALIA & Signos IoT – Safety Excellence Award
SiChock was recognised for its smart chock solution, which prevents unintentional truck movements during loading and unloading operations. This innovation significantly improves safety for operators, reduces the risk of accidents, and minimises operational downtime, contributing to a safer and more reliable logistics environment. SiChock was developed by a research and innovation project funded by the Spanish Ministry.
GEL Proximity – Digital Enabler Award
GEL Proximity was awarded for its B2B transhipment platform that enables multiple transport and last-mile providers to share logistics assets. By facilitating collaborative use of parcel lockers among competing operators, GEL Proximity advances the vision of a Physical Internet-enabled logistics ecosystem based on interoperability and shared infrastructure. The GEL Proximity platform has been developed within the URBANE project, co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101069782
CERHT – Promising Award
CERHT received the Promising Award for its forward-looking work in developing climate-resilient inland waterway logistics. The initiative exemplifies how technological innovation and sustainability can be integrated to modernise transport networks and enhance resilience to climate challenges. The initiative has been developed within the the CRISTAL project, funded by the European Union under grant agreement no. 101069838.
Each of these award-winning organisations demonstrates how research and innovation can translate into tangible impact, generating benefits for industry, society and the environment. Their achievements showcase Europe’s capacity to turn knowledge into action – supporting competitiveness, sustainability, and the broader transition toward zero-emission logistics.
By recognising excellence in innovation deployment, ALICE aims to inspire further collaboration across research, industry, and policy communities and to strengthen the link between European R&I programmes and market implementation.
