Port of Antwerp-Bruges joins ALICE to drive sustainable logistics and energy transition
Wednesday, October 1st, 2025
We are delighted to welcome the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Europe’s second largest seaport and a global hub in trade and industry, to the ALICE community.
With a total throughput of 278 million tonnes per year, the port plays a crucial role in container handling, general cargo and vehicle flows. Home to more than 1,400 companies and Europe’s largest integrated chemical cluster, it employs 164,000 people directly and indirectly, generating over €21 billion in added value annually.
Beyond its scale and economic weight, the port has set a clear ambition: to become the world’s first port reconciling people, climate and economy. Positioned as a logistics, maritime and industrial platform, it aims to lead the transition towards a circular and low-carbon economy, with responsibility for the environment and society high on its agenda.
From climate neutrality by 2050 to investments in energy, mobility, and environmental quality, Port of Antwerp-Bruges is leveraging its position and partnerships to create innovative solutions for a sustainable future. Its membership in ALICE will further strengthen collaboration with European stakeholders to scale green logistics and accelerate the energy transition.
