Launch of ALICE Digital Twin group

Friday, October 21st, 2022

Dear ALICE member, we are starting the activities of the Digital Twin group (ALICE Systems & Technologies for Interconnected Logistics). In this first meeting we will be discussing the applications, benefits, barriers of the use of DTs through presentations of use cases. We will also have an interactive session to capture the interest of the partners around Digital Twins, their experiences, tools, maturity levels… and discuss the kind of activities that we can carry out in ALICE to support them in exploiting this technology.

The goals of the Digital Twin group are:

  • Create a community within the ALICE partners that promotes and exchanges experiences around the use of digital twins in the logistics domain.
  • Promote an analytical, proactive culture of logistics process management using diverse types of models.
  • Organise events for partners to learn about the benefits of using this technology by presenting model projects.
  • The development of virtual models and digital twins is an enabler for collaboration and the adoption of the Physical internet.

Some of the activities we want to implement with the partners of this working group are the following:

  • Development of a document with the different models of digital twins developed: input information, standards used, sensors applied, functionalities, indicators, analysis performed…
  • Creation of a repository of documentation of models, data sources used, including models accessible to the ALICE user community.
  • Definition of a framework for digital twin classification. Maturity model references and examples.
  • Webinars and workshops to share projects, results and initiatives.
