123Carbon joins ALICE to advance carbon insetting in transport
Wednesday, January 28th, 2026
ALICE is pleased to welcome 123Carbon as a new member, strengthening the community’s work on credible and scalable approaches to transport and logistics decarbonisation.
123Carbon was founded to accelerate the decarbonisation of transportation by enabling investments in carbon reduction projects on behalf of customers and allocating the resulting emission reductions to organisations wishing to address their transport-related emissions. This approach, known as carbon insetting, allows carbon reductions to remain within the transport value chain while supporting measurable impact.
Developed collaboratively with the industry, for the industry, 123Carbon operates the first independent integrated platform for carbon insetting. The platform empowers organisations to verify, issue and allocate Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs) to their supply chain partners, supporting transparent and trusted emissions reduction claims.
123Carbon works with fuel suppliers and carriers to issue transparent and externally verified EACs, which can be allocated to freight forwarders and cargo owners. Its non-public, blockchain-based registry ensures the assurance and issuance of immutable certificates, while integrated certificate management tools allow users to manage, transfer and report multimodal insets in one central environment. The platform supports multiple transport modalities, including road, sea, air, rail and barging.
By joining ALICE, 123Carbon aims to contribute its expertise in carbon insetting, certificate integrity and transparent emissions accounting, and to collaborate with European logistics stakeholders on the development of harmonised and high-integrity solutions for reducing transport-related emissions.
