{"id":4207,"date":"2020-12-16T18:39:06","date_gmt":"2020-12-16T16:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.etp-logistics.eu\/?p=4207"},"modified":"2023-03-14T15:43:27","modified_gmt":"2023-03-14T13:43:27","slug":"hydrogen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etp-logistics.eu\/hydrogen\/","title":{"rendered":"MoU: supply and demand join forces to boost freight and logistics sector decarbonisation through hydrogen technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ALICE Logistics Platform and <a href=\"https:\/\/hydrogeneurope.eu\/\"><strong>Hydrogen Europe<\/strong><\/a> are delighted to announce a collaboration in the form of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etp-logistics.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/20201215-MoU-between-Hydrogen-Europe-and-ALICE.pdf\"><strong>Memorandum of Understanding.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The two associations recognise that hydrogen solutions for transport and logistics are essential to achieve medium and long-term European Objectives &#8211; i.e., the EU Green Deal objectives of 55% emission reductions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>To accelerate the uptake of the technologies, strong collaboration and mutual understanding are needed across sectors and among stakeholders across the whole value chain to understand and overcome potential barriers and\/or propose solutions to address them.<\/p>\n<p>ALICE and Hydrogen Europe\u2019s strategic objective is to support the uptake of hydrogen technologies in transport adapted to the needs of end-users while considering industrial developments. \u00a0The joint aim is to accelerate market readiness through innovative concepts and solutions, including business deployment strategies.<\/p>\n<p>This Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the framework of the closing meeting of the Advisory Board of the Study on Fuel Cell Hydrogen Trucks\u00a0that was commissioned by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking and conducted by Roland Berger. The study is available<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fch.europa.eu\/publications\/study-fuel-cells-hydrogen-trucks\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hydrogen Europe and ALICE were members of the study\u2019s Advisory Board. This MoU is a concrete next step to bring supply and demand together to accelerate the development of hydrogen technologies and comes after the release of the joint <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.h2haul.eu\/201123_coalition-statement-on-deployment-of-fch-trucks-in-europe\/\">Coalition Statement<\/a> <\/strong>last month going in this direction.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #4678b4; font-size: 16px;\">Val\u00e9rie Bouillon-Delporte, president of Hydrogen Europe, <\/strong> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em style=\"line-height: 25px; font-size: 15px;\">There is a growing consensus that hydrogen solutions will play a large role to decarbonise the logistics sector, this includes long-haul transport and energy-intensive applications. Within Hydrogen Europe, the whole hydrogen supply chain is partnering, from hydrogen providers to infrastructure operators and OEMs, to name a few. Enhancing collaboration with end-users is a logical way forward. We are thrilled to kick-start joint activities with the ALICE platform to contribute to achieving our part to meet the Green Deal Objectives.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #4678b4; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px;\">Fran\u00e7ois R\u00e9gis Le Tourneau, ALICE Chair<\/strong> and <strong style=\"color: #4678b4; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px;\">Corporate Supply Chain Standards and Prospective Director at L\u2019OR\u00c9AL, <\/strong> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em style=\"line-height: 25px; font-size: 15px;\">As part of our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etp-logistics.eu\/?p=3152\"><em>ALICE Roadmap towards Zero Emissions Logistics 2050<\/em><\/a><\/strong>,hydrogen-related technologies were identified as critical in terms of impact and contribution to achieve climate neutrality objectives. This alliance with Hydrogen Europe is a natural step to ensure we can address challenges with a broad and holistic perspective in which freight transport and logistics companies and users take their part in terms of responsibility and ownership of the challenges and solutions.<strong>We are extremely delighted with this collaboration.
